Indefinite Permanence – To Making it Count

Today I start my next big journey. I’m finally moving somewhere where there is no end in sight. For the first time in my life I will have no plans and no future obligations. Instead I will have permanence.

All I know is I have 1 job and 1 apartment; this could last months, years, or just a few days. Hey, you never know. What I do know is what I am doing at this very moment. For that matter, as this post goes live, I should be in a U-Haul transporting all of my earthly belongings, including my scooter, to my new apartment in Downtown LA, with the help of some dear friends.

Whatever happens next is yet to be written.

This spot of time in my life parallels one of my favorite moments in cinema. A moment performed by none other than the great Di Caprio as the young Jack Dawson in Titanic, of course.

His toast:

Well, right now my address is the RMS Titanic. After that, I’m on God’s good humor.  . . . I mean, I got everything I need right here with me. I got air in my lungs, a few blank sheets of paper. I mean, I love waking up in the morning not knowing what’s gonna happen or, who I’m gonna meet, where I’m gonna wind up. Just the other night I was sleeping under a bridge and now here I am on the grandest ship in the world having champagne with you fine people. I figure life’s a gift and I don’t intend on wasting it. You don’t know what hand you’re gonna get dealt next. You learn to take life as it comes at you… to make each day count.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. So I won’t. Cheers!
